Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Northwest Performing Arts Alliance recognizes the spirit, worth and individual gifts of all people. We seek to become a diverse, equitable and inclusive organization where all feel valued and included. We respect and value diverse life experiences and heritages and are convinced there is strength in diversity.

Likewise, we believe that healthy communities value differences, gain strength through inclusion and work to eliminate historic inequities. Our efforts to transform lives and build community are intended to provide resources and opportunities to those who have been marginalized because of race, ethnicity, economic status, or disabilities. 

Therefore, in our programs and partnerships, we seek to correct historical and structural inequities by directing our efforts to include those who have been denied opportunities because of race, gender, ethnicity, economic class, sexual orientation or age. 

Within our organization we:

• See diversity, equity and inclusion as connected to our mission and critical to our health and viability.
• Practice and encourage honest and transparent communication.
• Lead with respect and tolerance, demonstrating the value of all individuals in our daily interactions and our relationships with the larger community.
• Advocate for diversity, equity and inclusion in the community by partnering with groups and agencies which are leaders in the work of creating a healthy environment where each person is valued and has opportunity to reach full potential.
• Are open to learning about and helping to eliminate systemic practices and systems that perpetuate inequities in our community and society.
