This pre-professional dance troupe in Vancouver, WA for ages 10-18 gives dancers the experience of a company environment, preparing them for a future in the dance field.  Youth Dance Company is currently directed by Rebecca Spencer the Dance Director of Riverside Performing Arts. Company members learn and perform original choreography every year in a fusion of dance styles for their spring showcase and are featured in RPA productions. Weekly rehearsals include company class, cross training/conditioning, choreography and health tips to promote confidence. Company members are held to a higher standard in all classes with a personal evaluation after the first show of the year.

This accelerated program will offer younger dancers, ages 6-10, the opportunity to experience a company environment. Company members are expected to and maintain a certain level of focus and commit to their performing arts education. Professional instruction on proper technique and body placement will give students the tools they need to excel in a future in the arts.

“A Tale of the Nutcracker” is a retro 1950’s themed production inspired by E.T.A. Hoffmann’s “The Nutcracker and the Mouse King” directed by RPA’s Dance Director Rebecca Spencer. Join us at a party on Christmas Eve at the Williams residence where Clara eagerly awaits the arrival of her favorite aunt Debra Meiers who is bringing a new line of toys from Meier and Frank for the children to play with, including a Nutcracker… What magic will occur as Clara dreams of human sized mice, enchanted soldiers, snow fairies, and a land of dancing sweets. Blending acrobatics, classical ballet, jazz, and more with music by Tchaikovsky and Duke Ellington this production brings something for everyone.
